Gleinser Mahder

Thursday, 25th June

Walk: Serlesbahn gondola, Gleinser Mahder, Ochsenalm, Kloster Maria Waldrast, Ochsenhutte, Serlesbahn gondola
Start Point: Koppeneck Distance: 8.8 miles
Ascent: 1,440 feet Descent: 1,380 feet
Max Alt: 5,698 feet Time: 5.5 hours
Weather: Mainly sunny and warm
Comments: Taking the bus from Fulpmes we ascended on the Serlebahn gondola for the start of the walk. It was fairly gentle walking on forest tracks with good views over the surrounding valleys. There were lots of opportunities to explore and photograph the flowers along the way. The marshy meadow was glorious with lots of orchids and many other flowers. We had good views of the route we took onto Blaser which was in mist at the time. After returning to the Koppeneck Jane and I took advantage of another turn on the toboggan while the rest of the group descended on the gondola. A great day.

Good views of Elferspitze from the hotel . . .

and you can just see the Elferhutte in the bottom of the picture
